    My essay “The Luckiest Bastard” will be included in the written collection “Gratitude” compiled by Read650 in connection with the “Songs of Gratitude” event at the Bruno Theater at Lincoln Center on January 4, 2020. The event is in celebration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. Excerpts from the collection “Gratitude” will be read, and Beethoven’s  String Quartet No. 15, Op. 132, known as a “holy song of gratitude,” will be performed by the New York Classical Players.     On June 11, 2017, I read my essay “Declarations” to a packed crowd at Sarah Lawrence College, where Read650 was holding it’s public reading event, “From A to LGBTQ.” Thirteen writers were selected to be part of the event, described by Read650 founder Edward McCann in this way:

    “A remarkable group of straight and not so straight writers from around the country reflect on the theme with a taut collection of riveting, personal stories that run the gamut from A to . . . LGTBQ.”
